The Georgia Tribe of Eastern Cherokee welcomes you to our Government website, we are not a corporation and have never moved to Cumming,Georgia or has it been authorized. The Georgia Tribe of Eastern Cherokee maintains its culture through an outreach in education, in Public Schools and College across the state, and many other outlets. The Georgia Tribe of Eastern Cherokee has refrained from having a website but find it a necessity to keep our members informed and correct misinformation. The Georgia Tribe of Eastern Cherokee is dedicated to keeping our culture alive in Georgia and where our tribal members live. We are historically from North Georgia remnants that hid during the infamous removal of all Indians east of the Mississippi River called the Trail of Tears and did not go on the removal. The Georgia Tribe of Eastern Cherokee has a functioning Government consisting of The National Council, The Tribal Judicial System, Marshal Division, and Education System. The Georgia Tribe of Eastern Cherokee believe a web site does not make you tribe, a Federal Government does not make you a tribe, a State does not make you a tribe, incorporating does not make you a tribe. Continuing The Georgia Tribe of Eastern Cherokee education outreach is our museum project. Please also visit our sister site Yahoola Cherokee Museum to find information on learning about the Cherokee Culture and our Museum Project in Beautiful Dahlonega, Georgia. On our sister site follow the learn tab, to go to our learning room where we have Cherokee words to learn, the learning room will be updated so check back often.
